Gospel concert in Tembisa

Local artists flocked to the International Assemblies of God (IAG) based at Difateng, to show off their talents during the first inaugural Tembisa Goes Gospel concert, which was held recently.

According to the organiser and founder of Tembisa Goes Gospel, Ms Lerato Machaba, she wanted Tembisa residents to get more involved in gospel concerts.

“Most young people are just into parties and forget about gospel. The concert is meant to encourage young people to get to know God and it is also a platform for them to showcase their talents. Through the concert, we preach the gospel and teach the Word of God,” she said. She added that it targets everyone who is interested in gospel, dancing and poetry. “During the event, we do charity fundraising and donate to the identified homes. This time, we raised funds for the Entokozweni Charity Organisation. We are planning to buy them clothes and food for Christmas,” she added.

She said the concert is not for Tembisa residents only, but the country at large.

“We are planning to invite professional artists to next year’s event. We want to make sure that talent grows and is seen in the communities. Tembisa has a lot of talented youngsters who need support,” she said.

When asked what her message to the youth is, Ms Machaba said the grace of God is sufficient to deliver every person.

“There is grace that can still save you. People need to know God and be saved,” she added.

She she thanked her family, especially her sisters Thapelo and Mmatsatsi for sponsoring the concert.

“I also thank IAG Church Pastor Hezekiel Vilakazi and his wife for being helpful and most importantly, providing the venue. And everyone responded well to the concert. We are appealing to business people to help sponsor the concert,” she said.
