Van Riebeeck Park starts Whatsapp group to fight crime
Members of the community are encouraged to join the group to make for easier communication with the CPF
VAN Riebeeck Park Community Policing Forum has established a new Whatsapp group to combat crime in their area.
These are just one of the ways they are encouraging residents to get involved in combating crime.
On this group, suspicious vehicles and activities can be reported and security companies around Kempton Park are also part of the group.
“We also have community policing meetings every second Wednesday to discuss safety, security and service delivery matters. A councillor is also available to support us with all the service delivery issues and general assistance where required,” the CPF said.
Also, the forum has voluntary task teams from the community who are there to action all items in these meetings.
“We can make a difference by working together as a community but we do need people to unite with us to once again declare the safety of our community.”
The community can also help by joining the Whatsapp group and/or the neighbourhood watch team to report any suspicious activities, vehicles and/or persons.
People are requested to contribute towards the community policing fund. The funds will be used for vehicle patrol radios and surveillance cameras on streets identified as hot spots, among other things.
Strict treasury management and full reports will be given on monies spent.
