Black Motion sets the scene

The distinct sound of the indigenous African drum seamlessly blended with urban house beats.

This authentic sound defines Black Motion, the not-so-new kids on the block.

The duo rocked the crowds at the mother of all parties to hit Tembisa this December, the Red Bull Kasi Lami festival, which was held at Moriting Park on Sunday, December 7.

Track after track, Black Motion kept party goers jiving away , right until the wee hours of Monday morning.

The duo set the party on fire, a perfect curtain raiser for the much-awaited act of Black Coffee.

The boys from the Pretoria township of Soshanguve, known by their stage names Dj Murda and Drumma “Small”, said they love making good music.

“We love what we do and of course our goal is to remain relevant in the business and give people good music to enjoy. We just keep ourselves grounded and humble like that,” said Small.

He said their unique sound sets them apart from the pack.

“What inspires us is the native drums. The sound is influenced by the Africa beat of a drum we call the “doom doom,” he said.

Small thanked Red Bull for their long-standing relationship.

“Black Motion and Red Bull go a long way back, we have been working with them since 2010. They keep on inviting us to great events. This helps us because it gives us more exposure to our fans.”
