The chairperson of the Tembisa Local Taxi Assocaition (Telta), Mr Aubrey Tshabalala, thanked the association’s executive members for standing together and supporting each other through a turbulent, but successful, year.
Addressing members of Telta during the association’s year end party held at Moriting Park on Friday last week, Mr Tshabalala said he hopes the association will start 2015 with peace, love and harmony.
“We spent a lot of energy attending court cases and trying to unite the association this year. We are happy that Telta members refused to support those who are power hungry and worked hard to strengthen the association. It feels good to see that we are going into 2015 united as an organisation and we pray that next year we will spend time looking after the interests of Telta members,” he said.
When handing free groceries to the association’s veterans, he said it is the duty of the association to help those who started the association many years ago.
“We have been giving them Christmas groceries for many years, and we are still going to help them in the future,” he said.
One of the veterans who received groceries, Mr Daniel David Botha, said he thanks Telta for the groceries.
“We really feel that the present executive appreciates the role we played during our time. May God bless them and keep on helping us as we have retired and do not have any income,” he said.
