Players recognised for excellence

The Ivory Park Football Association (IPFA) held its players awards ceremony at the Kopanong Sports Grounds over the weekend.

The event culminated with festivities, which saw youngsters showcasing their talents through performing dance, poems and drama.

Among the attendees were parents, football administrators and sponsors.

The U/13 and U/15 boys were awarded trophies and medals for their individual performances and their teams’ efforts.

The proudest, youngest player who received soccer boots as his early Christmas gift was Junior Maseko, who also received a gold medal for being the youngest of U/13 player.

The reigning champions, Laduma U/15, were awarded a trophy and medals respectively, while Kaizer FC won the U/13 division.

The team’s managers received bags of shoes, sponsored by Seshego Cares.

The food and snacks were sponsored by Curryden from Edenvale.

Trophies and medals were sponsored by Mojaki Mkhonza, of Ubukhoni Engineering Company.

“I have been with this association for the past three years. This is the beginning of great things for Ivory Park footballers. We want to take this association to another level,” said the chairman of IPFA, Mr Curtus Moonsamy.

“Our main goal is to take children off the street by encouraging them to play soccer,” he added.

Ivory Park FA is a member of the Midrand Local Football Association.

Individual awards for the U/15s were:

Top Goal Scorer, Njabulo Mkhwanazi; Player of the Season, Zane Malatji; Disciplined Player, Siyabonga Nene; Youngest Player, Kgomotso Seshane; Golden Boot, Rifumo.

Individual awards for the U/13s were:

Top Goal Scorer, Ndulula; Best Goalkeeper, Mosa Langa; Player of the Season, Solly Bangu; Disciplined Player, Bongani Shabangu; Youngest Player, Junior Maseko and the Golden Boot went to Wandi Senomsi.
