Tembisa’s Mohale wins Dis-Chem marathon

Lucky Mohale from Tembisa won the Dis-Chem Half Marathon after his seventh attempt.

He scooped the win in a time of 1:07:40.

The runner from Madelakufa in Tembisa said the last seven times he participated in the marathon, he finished in either second or third place.

“This time I intensified the my training. I had my focus on the World Championships, which will take place in August,” he said.

Mohale was followed by David Manja. In third position was Kgosi Tsosane.

The women’s category was won by Rene Kalmer, in a time of 1:18:38.

She was followed by Edenvale resident, Yolande Maclean, in a time of 1:21:26. In third position was Christine Kalmer, in a time of 1:23:23.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s (EMM) executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, finished in 2:16.

“This helps me maintain a healthy lifestyle. I also try to encourage others to live a healthy lifestyle,” said Clr Gungubele.
