TWO unlicensed gambling businesses in Norkem Park where closed down on January 6 and 7 by Norkem Park SAPS.
According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the two illegal operations were brought to a standstill at about 10am by W/O Mahlodi Langa and W/O Wesly Dunga.
Molokomme said the businesses, situated on the corner of Haakdoring Street and Duvenhage Street in Edleen, and at Norkem Mall respectively, were spotted during the police’s daily visits to businesses around Norkem Park.
“On arrival at the first premises the manager failed to produce an operating licence. The machines on site, 19 computers, were used for gambling, and were confiscated along with R3 460,” explained Molokomme.
Molokomme said the manager had been given a R1 000 fine for operating without a valid gambling licence.
At the second business, Molokomme said another 19 computers were confiscated and cash amounting to R590. The manager had also been issued a fine of R1 000 for operating without a valid gambling licence.
