Rangers FC wins on penalties
Rangers FC beat Moshamulo FC 4-3 on penalties in an entertaining game played at the Square One Sports Grounds on Sunday.
Teanong-based Moshamulo FC was first to open the scoring, through the reliable striker Kamogelo Sopoti. Sopoti scored 15 minutes into the game.
He received a well-timed pass from Paballo Mahlake.
Against the run of play, Moshamulo’s right winger, Martin Ntlekwana, scored a second goal and sealed the lead for his team.
Going into the break, the score was 2-0 in favour of Moshamulo FC.
The second half saw Rangers FC’s striker, Sizwe Ndwandwe, defeat the Moshamulo goalkeeper after a good cross.
Rangers’ players put more pressure onto their opponents and scored a second goal through Katlego Radebe, equalising the score.
The game ended in a 2-2 draw and had to be decided on penalties, which Rangers FC won 4-3.
Rangers FC’s coach, Thulani Buthelezi, said he was over the moon to win the friendly match.
“I am excited that we won the game. My players never gave up, even when we were behind in the first half. They showed team spirit and fought hard for the win,” he added.
