EKURHULENI Metro has partnered with Bidvest Velocity to help address the pothole situation in the area.
Bidvest Velocity has agreed to assist the metro free of charge.
Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, made the announcement at this year’s first council meeting in Germiston on January 29.
Gungubele stated that through the company’s corporate social investment programme, Bidvest will assist the metro with its pothole issue “at no cost to the metro”.
“As we speak right now, our roads and storm water department is working on a plan that will ensure that the gap presently plugged by Bidvest in dealing with potholes is permanently closed going forward to avoid the present status quo,” Gungubele announced.
He continued to make it clear that Bidvest’s involvement was “indeed an augmentation of the city’s own maintenance efforts as budgeted for in the 2014/2015 financial year”.
The mayor said he also instructed the city’s real estate team to address, with immediate effect, the backlog with regards to grass cutting.
