Small church shows big promise
The Lord's House opens its doors to the Kempton Park community in a bigger church
FROM humble beginnings, Lazarus Naidoo and 11 others formed a small church, The Lords House, in their home in Midrand four years ago with the help of three families and Apostle Mitch Subramani from Durban.
Naidoo and Subramani wanted to broaden their horizons and with the help of Stephen Maseko and his family from Norkem Park, they opened up their garage and later their yard for the church to pitch a tent where they held services for a year.
Unfortunately, due to hail and rain damage, the tent was destroyed. They found a vacant building on the corner of Tortelduif and Gamtoos streets in Norkem Park where they currently reside and can accommodate 100 people .
Morning worship services are at 9am and Sunday school classes at 8.15am. Weekly intercessions and prayer meetings are on Wednesdays at 7pm.
Naidoo said: “We are a multi-racial non-profit organisation that have members from Tembisa, Norkem Park and Birchleigh North.”
The good news is that The Lords House will move into the old NG Church on Theuns Street in Birchleigh North on March 1, which seats 1 700 people.
“To us this is exciting news and we intend to impact the community positively.”
Their plan is to start with community support such as soup kitchens, clothes drives and youth development.
