‘Little’ tree problem in Aston Manor

Ekurhuleni parks department comes to rescue as tree collapses in family's front yard

AN Eland Road resident stood amazed as a tree in his front garden fell over for no apparent reason.

“The tree was fully grown in 1991 when we moved in and did not show any outward sign of disease or dying, as it still leaved every year without incident,” Susan Guest said. She shares the house with her husband, mother and two sons.

Guest said the unfortunate event occurred on February 10 at around 6.25pm. As Guest’s husband was standing in the back yard, he witnessed the tree collapsing in the front yard.

Fortunately, no cars were damaged and miraculously the tree fell away from the house onto the palisades and into the street.

The Guest family would like to thank Clr Jaco Terblanche, who notified the parks department. The street was cleared within two hours. The Whatsapp group in the area notified residents about the “little” problem.

Guest also added: “I just hope that this is not going to cause any financial distress on any of us as times have been difficult.”
