Fraudsters sell ‘miracle cure’
It is alleged that some women are selling a mysterious liquid in Tembisa, claiming it heals high blood pressure, leg pain and other ailments.
The ladies are said to be moving from door to door in areas like Isithama, Emangweni, Emoyeni and Clayvill.
An angry, middle-aged woman visited The Tembisan’ s offices on Monday afternoon, with a sample of the liquid.
She said her mother bought the liquid last week, but when she opened it, she realised the liquid inside the three bottles was soap.
The bottles cost R50 each.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, she said members of the community are buying the liquid in bulk, as they believe it cures all kinds of ailments.
“The women are fraudsters. They have to be stopped before people get sick from this liquid. I don’t even know what they have mixed with the soap,” she said.
Meanwhile, when the Tembisa SAPS Cluster’s communications director Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha was asked about the liquid, he said people must never buy things they do no know.
“I am appealing to members of the community to not buy things they do not know. People must always go to clinics, doctors and hospitals when they are sick. They must not open their doors to strangers. I am also calling on those who have bought the liquid to contact their nearest police station and verify what is inside those bottles,” he said.
