“THE metro doesn’t seem to know the difference between 24 hours and 24 days,” an angry resident expressed.
Corrie Breytenbach’s water meter pipe has been leaking since February 6 and the metro has not yet come out to fix it.
According to his wife, Petro, the couple had reported the damage the very same day they saw it.
“The metro sent a message saying the complaint had been registered and we received a reference number,” Petro explained.
The message also said the problem would be fixed within 24 hours. But it’s been almost three weeks now and the family is still sitting with a leaking pipe.
This has also resulted in the family’s water bill doubling during February. They had to pay R1 000 as opposed to the normal R400.
“What’s funny is that they (metro) keep sending messages to our phone reminding the public they should save water and that water is precious and every drop counts, but ironically, they’ve left this problem ongoing for this long.”
The matter has been referred to the metro for comment.
