Hijacked bakkie found within an hour

The suspects were cornered and arrested about half an hour later

A bakkie hijacked in Tembisa on Wednesday was recovered within an hour and four suspects were arrested.

Supf Wilfred Kgsago, metro police spokesman, said the red Nissan Hilux LDV was hijacked at gunpoint at shortly before 8am and was recovered at 8.30am.

The suspects’ getaway car, a white BMW sedan, was also confiscated. The suspects were cornered and arrested at around 9.20am.

Kgasago said the victim was hijacked in Emoyeni Section and also robbed of eight cartons of cigarettes and cash.

The combined efforts of the metro police and flying squad led to the recovery of the stolen vehicle in Isithama Section. The suspects were apprehended in Emangweni Section.
