KEMPTON police officer Const Themba Mashele helped reunite a puppy with his owner on Thursday morning.

Mashele took five-month-old Jorg, a Weimaraner, back to his worried owner Alicia in Glen Marais.

Mashele was patrolling along Tulbagh Street when he came across the scared-looking dog near Tulbagh Gardens just after 8am.

Mashele had informed EXPRESS earlier about the dog, requesting that the owner of the puppy contact him directly should they recognise him, and that he would hand Jorg over to Kempton SPCA.

“But by the time I arrived there, they (SPCA) informed me that a woman had called to report her missing puppy and the description given to them matched that of the stray dog,” Mashele explained.

By 10am, the good policeman had safely returned Jorg home.

Alicia said Jorg probably slipped through the gates because there were many people who come in and out, so maybe someone forgot to close the gate behind them.

“When I realised he was gone, we all searched all over for him. When we couldn’t find him, we phoned the SPCA.

“Thank you so much to the policeman, I am so grateful for his help today,” Alicia said.
