The DA in Ekurhuleni is glad the executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, has reshuffled the mayoral committee but is disappointed by the appointments made.
The announcement comes under a storm of controversy as the DA believes this is just another way the ANC-led metro can look after its cadres, the DA’s Fortune Mahano said in a statement.
“Many non-performing MMCs have simply been reshuffled to fill other positions, which will surely result in those committees also under-performing. Like the MMC of Public Transport, Planning and Provision and Roads, Thumbu Mahlangu, who, instead of being sacked, has simply been redeployed to another department.
“We would like to have seen new faces enter these positions in order to drive the change the people of Ekurhuleni so desperately need. Instead, there is not a breath of fresh air and the same incompetent individuals still fill these high powered positions.
“Furthermore, our mayor highlighted the need for a non-racial Ekurhuleni. However, his very own cabinet does not reflect our rainbow nation”.
