Auditor-general visits the EMM

Auditor-General Kimi Makwethu visited the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) on Wednesday last week.

He also made a stop at the EMM’s multi-million rand investment centre and business facilitation network centre on the corner of Monument and Voortrekker roads.

The EMM’s executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele, hosted the AG as he visited various sites where the EMM’s big projects were currently taking place.

Caiphus Chauke, who is the head of the department of economic development in Ekurhuleni, gave the delegates a tour of the business centre.

The centre offers coordinated business support, incubation, mentorship, linkages and financing intervention for SMMEs and co-operatives, assistance in the development application processes and requirements to unlock public and private sector investments into strategic, affluent, underdeveloped and marginalised areas of the city, and coordinated planning for the Aerotropolis development.

In 2014 the AG awarded Ekurhuleni the prestigious clean audit award.

Other sites visited included the Winnie Mandela Clinic, Tembisa, the Tembisa Business Park and the Fab Laboratory in the Tembisa Business Park.
