Entries for beauty pageant are open
Auditions for the Miss Teen and Miss Tembisa Beauty Pageants 2015 will be held from June 13 to 27.
According to Mr Philly Mhlongo, from the Siyaphumelela Youth Development Initiative (SYDI), the pageant auditions will run from one place to another to cover all of Tembisa North.
“Our approach this year is different to previous years, as we learn to do things differently every day. We are prepared to work with any individual who wants to add value to the brand because this year we are stepping up and stepping high,” he said.
Mr Mhlongo said they are targeting beauties aged 14 to 17 years old for Miss Teen Tembisa.
The Miss Tembisa pageant will target beauties aged 18 to 24 years old.
According to Mr Mhlongo, Miss Tembisa is one of the hundreds of organisations that have produced role models, not only for Tembisa, but for the whole country, such as Ms Pearl Modiadie who hosts Zaziwa on SABC 1, the Metro FM presenter Ms Amanda Ndiki and the former Miss Tembisa Lebogang Mashangoana, who went to New York as part of her prize after she won Miss Sun Babe of the Year.
“The SYDI has assisted more than 700 school pupils with school uniforms, in partnership with Vimba Group. This year is going to be a challenging and interesting competition because the top three will automatically enter the Miss SA regional competition to represent us. We are trying to promote and open doors for the youth and to create job opportunities,” he added.
Those who want to enter the Miss Teen and Miss Tembisa Beauty Pageants 2015, can contact the SYDI’s offices on 083 683 6047 or 078 933 0006.
