EMM makes healthy living easier

Outdoor eco-gym for better and healthier citizens at no cost.

Living a healthy lifestyle has always been a concern.

During Ekurhuleni executive mayor, Clr Mondli Gungubele’s State of the City Address earlier this year, he extended a call to citizens to lead healthy lifestyles.

“In advancing our call for healthy living I am excited to inform you the city will soon unleash 60 eco-gyms throughout the region.

“As of July some of our existing parks will be refurbished and fitted with gym equipment,” he said.

The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) set out on a venture to increase the probability of individuals’ health care.

In so doing the EMM has installed outdoor gym equipment in parks throughout the municipality.

These are referred to as ‘eco-gyms’.

The immovable machines are designed to withstand the outdoor weather conditions and minor wear and tear.

The outdoor gyms are becoming popular in communities.

“I jog to the park and have two gym sessions per day which comprise of cycling, circuit training and an abdominal workout routine,” said fitness fanatic, Mr Solomon Bungela.
