The Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality wants residents to take part in reviewing the current Spatial Development Framework, 2011, as well as updating draft Regional Development Frameworks (RSDFs).
All five RSDFs will be consolidated with the existing RSDF, which will result in the revision of the Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework (MSDF).
The various regions comprise the following areas:
Region B: Edenvale, Tembisa, Kempton Park north
Region C: Bapsfontein, Daveyton, Etwatwa
Region D: Benoni, Brakpan, Springs north
Region E: Springs south, Nigel, Duduza, Kwa-Thema, Tsakane
Region F: Alberton, Germiston (south of N17), Boksburg (south of N17), Thokoza, Katlehong and Vosloorus.
Participation by members of the public from the various regions will add more value when deriving the spatial development vision, spokesman for the metro, Themba Gadebe, said.
“This will guide the process of drafting the spatial development framework patterns within the metro which are associated infrastructural development as well as capital investment.”
The updated MSDF and RSDF reports are available for perusal at Ekurhuleni Customer Care Centres, the city planning offices, all municipal libraries and on the metro’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.
All public comments and representations must reach the metro during the official comment period (May 29 to June 29) and by no later than Monday, June 29.
Members of the public can forward their comments and representations by e-mail to emmrsdf@gibb.co.za.
Hand-delivered comments can also be submitted at customer care centres, city planning offices or the city planning head office on the corner of Margaret Avenue and Kempton Road in Kempton Park.
