Dad on a mission to change the world

According to Fumani, the FFZA is a non-profit company and is a social movement based on the principles of fatherhood.

Fumanin Shilubana is on a mission to change the world.

Fumanin, who happens to be a familiar face on our televisions, is a father, actor, businessman, producer and a social entrepreneur.

Fumani is the founder of the Father Figure South Africa (FFZA) Foundation.

According to Fumani, the FFZA is a non-profit company and is a social movement based on the principles of fatherhood.

When he heard that South Africa is called a fatherless nation, he decided to embark on a research project.

Statistics showed him the lack of black fathers’ involvement with their children.

“I say involved – this does not refer to being with the mother,” said Fumani.

“My research resulted in a call to action because I am a dad and I love being a father,” said Fumani.

“My peers grew up in a generation where it was not the norm for children to talk back and discuss manhood with their fathers. I had that and want that for young boys. My father was there growing up and I had a reference when I became a father. I knew exactly how to mold my fatherhood,” he said.

The father of a 10-year-old boy said, “We want to be visible. The more you see the FFZA, the more the principles and values of the organisation will dwell in society. I believe that will change the approach as to how men view the world and the way they view their children,” he said.

Fumani said they have created a system called ‘Deconstruct to contruct’.

“We have talks to Deconstruct. We have games to put children and their parents at the same level, enabling them to see things eye to eye,” said Fumani.

He said the foundation’s programmes help parents to seek treasures in their children, and children will therefore be able to communicate (at the same level) with parents.
