A local soccer coach has been accused of raping a nine-year-old boy in Phomolong on July 21.
According to community members, the coach is a foreign national and was accused of raping a number of boys from his club.
“The coach asked the boy to sleep over and the child’s parents agreed,” said Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha, from the Tembisa SAPS.
“The coach took the boy to his house where he raped him. The following morning the boy’s parents noticed he was walking strangely and when they inquired the boy told his parents about the rape,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
“The parents confronted the coach and the confrontation resulted in the community stepping in and taking the law into their own hands. The suspect is currently in the Tembisa Hospital,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
