IT is believed robbers involved in a shoot-out with police on the N4 highway on Tuesday afternoon could be part of the notorious “airport gang”.
At least one suspect died on the scene.
According to police spokesperson, Vish Naidoo, the men are part of a group of robbers that attack people coming from OR Tambo Airport. A number of firearms have been recovered, he said.
Rekord East reported on Tuesday that the N4 west near the Simon Vermooten off-ramp sounded like a war zone as police chased the alleged robbers.
