Firearms recovered and suspects arrested after yesterday’s shooting

Gauteng SAPS Provincial Major Vusi Mngomezulu said five people were arrested and two firearms were recovered last night.

Five suspects were arrested following yesterday’s taxi violence in Tembisa.

Gauteng SAPS Provincial Major Vusi Mngomezulu said the five people were arrested and two firearms were recovered last night.

“Police detectives monitored the rank until the arrests were made. The police will continue to monitor the taxi rank,” he said.

The Tembisan reported yesterday the news of the woman shot and killed during yesterday’s shootout at Esangweni Taxi Rank left her family in shock and disbelief. Three others were shot and wounded. A queue marshal was also shot and wounded the day before at the same taxi rank.

“Taxi associations are fighting for a route from Alexandra to Midrand and from Midrand to Tembisa,” Major Mngomezul previously said.
