A cable fault resulted in certain Glen Marais residents not experiencing load shedding as per the load shedding schedule.
Brigitte Strydom from Glen Marais ext 1 noticed that their area, which falls under B3, was experiencing load shedding with the B6 areas.
“For me, loadshedding, as inconvenient as it is, is manageable if I know when and if it’s going to happen. It is extremely annoying to expect load shedding at a certain time but to only ever experience it at an unexpected time,” she said.
“We had a cable fault in our medium voltage network and part of Glen Marais ext 1 was supplied from an alternative substation to ensure they had power while repairs were ongoing. Unfortunately, when their temporarily adopted substation was affected, they were also affected and this was not as per their expected schedule,” said metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.
“The cable has been repaired and the network normalised. Glen Marais ext 1 will now be affected as per the schedule.”
