A 70-year-old man was shot and killed in his driveway on Tuesday afternoon just before 3.30pm on Salix Terrace Road in Edleen.
This brings the number of people murdered in Kempton Park the past week to three.
Acting Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Mahlodi Langa, said the man, identified as Mr Alexander, was driving his silver Corsa bakkie into his yard when the incident took place.
“The victim parked his car at his gate and opened it. His wife walked to the front door to open and heard footsteps. She turned around to find an unknown male behind her,” explained Langa.
“The man put his finger on his mouth and motioned for her to keep quiet. As he went past her, she turned around to lock the door and heard a gunshot. She pressed the panic button and the suspect ran away,” he added.
The wife did not see a firearm on the suspect but just heard a shot, said Langa.
Her husband was shot in his neck and died on the scene. A 9mm pistol cartridge was found on the seat inside the car.
Nothing was stolen and no arrests have been made.
A murder case is being investigated.
On July 28 a 36-year-old mother was gunned down in her Esther Park driveway. On July 31 a 61-year-old woman lost her life in Norkem Park when she was killed in her bedroom.
