
A 27-year-old man handed himself in to the Tembisa South SAPS after he allegedly strangled an 8-year-old boy to death recently.
The Tembisa SAPS communications officer, Captain Manyadza Ralidzivha, said the suspect claimed he was asked by somebody to stay over at her house in Esiphetweni section.
“He met the deceased on the street. The boy asked him if he wanted to watch movies. He then went with him into the house. While they were watching movies. The suspect became angry and took a cloth and strangled the boy to death,” he said.
Captain Ralidzivha said when the suspect realised the child was dead, he hid the body under a bed.
“After the incident, he phoned his next-of-kin. His mother convinced him to report the matter to the police. He went to the Tembisa South SAPS and handed himself in to the police. The deceased was found under the bed. The suspect was arrested and a case of murder was opened,” he said.
