Police catch two ATM robbers in the act

The victim is a police officer stationed in Mpumalanga

TWO suspected ATM robbers were arrested by members of the Kempton Park Sector Unit at ABSA on Central Avenue at around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

Kempton Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said members patrolling along Central Avenue noticed three people in a scuffle at the ATMs.

“It is believed the victim was about to withdraw money from the ATM when two suspects suddenly grabbed his bank card and forced him to punch in his pin number. When police arrived, the bank card of the victim was found on one of the suspects,” explained Mtshali.

The two suspects, aged 39 and 42, were then arrested.

It was later established the victim is a police officer stationed at Hoedspruit Police Station in Bushbuckridge, Mpumalanga.
