EMPD Loss Control & Investigations Unit members, in collaboration with Matrix Vehicle Tracking company, recovered a hijacked Toyota Corolla in Esselen Park where a man was arrested on Friday, August 7.
The vehicle was hijacked earlier in the day in Pretoria West.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said they received a look-out at around 7pm and the signal on the hijacked vehicle led them to a house on 13th Street in Esselen Park. On arrival at the said address, a man tried to drive out of the yard with the stolen Corolla but was blocked off and arrested.
The 50-year-old male suspect, who it was established to be the owner of the house where the vehicle was found, was charged at Tembisa Police Station with possession of a stolen vehicle.
