Two non-members, 34 members and four missionaries of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints lent a helping hand to the Tembisa Residential Facility for Older Persons.
“The facility situated at 754 Mmamasianoke Street in Seotloana section, Tembisa, received a Mormon Helping Hands service of removing weeds from the paved area, taking out overgrown grass where we tilled the soil to made seedbeds and planted seedlings of cabbage, spinach, carrots and beetroot,” said Marilyn Nhlapo, public affairs director for the Centurion stake.
Ms Nhlapo said they also established that the facility needs wheelchairs and said they previously worked with the Sweetheart Foundation to source wheelchairs.
“We have embarked on a campaign as the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to collect bread tags which we will hand to the recycling company in exchange for wheelchairs.”
