A 30-year-old man was arrested on 14 August for a rape he allegedly committed in Tsenelong, Tembisa.
According to Constable Patricia Mgijima, a family friend asked the mother if her 12-year-old daughter could accompany him to his home.
“The mother agreed, not suspecting anything,” said Const Mgijima.
When the girl returned, she informed her mother that the suspect had raped her.
He allegedly undressed the girl and forced himself on her.
Const Mgijima said the girl also claimed it was not the first time the suspect had raped her.
The victim claimed she was first raped in June this year, and that the suspect had threatened her to say nothing.
Const Mgijima said a case of rape was opened and the suspect was arrested.
“He will be appearing in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court to answer on a charge of rape. The Tembisa SAPS appeals to community members not to trust anyone with their children,” said Const Mgijima.
