N3 closed near Van Reenen’s Pass after fatal crash

Those on their way to KZN at the moment could expect major delays as a result of a fatal truck accident earlier this morning.

Three people were killed and a fourth was badly injured in a pile-up among three trucks which forced the closure of the N3 near Montrose in the Free State.

According to reports it could take until around 1pm to clear the road.

KZN EMS spokesperson Robert McKenzie said the road had been closed to traffic while emergency workers dealt with the accident.

“On the N3 about 4km into the Free State there is a total road closure,” he said.

Traffic is already severely backed up.
