For over a decade, the restaurant, which specialises in African cuisine, has celebrated African identity with great style, class and dignity.
Every year, Imbizo Shisanyama Busy Corner, which was founded on the principle of paying homage to authentic African culture, brings African culture and heritage to life by showcasing glamorous traditional African attire, performances by top traditional artists and, of course, the very best in authentic African cuisine.
Ms Rita Zwane, founder and MD of Imbizo Shisanyama, said for centuries their legacy and heritage has been passed on by their forefathers, from generation to generation, and still provides a solid foundation from which they can learn and understand their true identity, history and cultures.
“Understanding our roots helps build a stronger future for our children, one that will enable them to speak proudly about their identity and origin. It is only when our kids clearly understand who they are, that the accurate history of Africa can be told,” she said.
Ms Zwane added they have been celebrating National Heritage Day since 2002, in recognition of SA’s great diversity and rich history.
