Two face murder charges

Three suspects were arrested for a murder committed in Winnie Mandela Zone 8 on September 20.

Three suspects, aged between 29 and 35, were arrested for a murder committed in Winnie Mandela Zone 8 on September 20.

According to police, officers were summoned to the scene where they found a group of people.

Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Patricia Mgijima, said the police found a woman who introduced herself as the wife of the deceased.

“She alleged that she was with her husband when three men started urinating on their fence. They both went to reprimand the men. While the wife was talking to one of the suspects, his accomplices started arguing with her husband,” she said.

“The two suspects started assaulting her husband with stones and sticks, until he fell on the ground bleeding. She screamed for help and community members responded.

“The community apprehended the suspects. When the police arrived, they found the two suspects had been injured. They were taken to Tembisa Hospital under police guard. The third suspect was detained at Tembisa police cells.”

Constable Mgijima said the victim was also taken by ambulance to Tembisa Hospital where he later died.

“The third suspect was later released as he was not linked to the crime. The two suspects will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court once they are discharged from hospital,” she said.
