A full investigation will be launched into the accident

A male cyclist was struck by a mini-bus taxi at the intersection of Southward and Olifantsfontein roads in Olifantsfontein at 6.30am on Wednesday morning.

The cyclist was certified dead on the scene by paramedics, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said.

Information gathered from independent witnesses was that the cyclist failed to stop at this T-junction. The deceased, who was in his late thirties, was on his way to work in Centurion from Tembisa.

The EMPD Accident Reconstruction Unit has opened a culpable homicide docket at Olifantsfontein Police Station and will fully investigate the fatal accident.
