Matshitshi group showcases talent

The group showcased its talents in traditional dance, poetry and drama.

The Matshitshi Empela group celebrated Heritage Month in style in Rabie Ridge on Saturday last week.

The group showcased its talents in traditional dance, poetry and drama.

They were joined by local traditional dance groups.

Ms Gladys Sangweni, the founder of the group, said they wanted to teach the children about the importance of celebrating Heritage Month.

“Young people do not understand the meaning of Heritage Day. They just see people wearing various traditional attires,” she said.

Ms Sangweni told the young people that Heritage Day and Month is when all South Africans celebrate their cultural heritage and embrace their diverse traditions and values, which contributes to the “rainbow nation”.

The groups were served with free meals and drinks during the celebration.
