High risk of load shedding as Eskom lose generators

The risk of load shedding on Friday is high due to a shortage of generation capacity as some of Eskom’s generating units tripped last night and this morning.
Eskom has not implemented load shedding for the past 61 days except for two hours and 20 minutes.
“As we are currently experiencing hot weather conditions across the country, we urge electricity users to consider energy efficient ways of keeping cool,” Eskom said.
Eskom would like to assure customers that load shedding is implemented as a necessary measure to protect the power system and to ensure that maintenance is carried out in order to guarantee that our supply of electricity can be maintained in the long term.
