Grayston Bridge: Third person did not die

A truck could have crashed into the structure before its collapse

A third person did not die as a result of injuries sustained in Wednesday’s bridge collapse on the M1.

Earlier, Johannesburg mayor, Park Tau, and Murray & Roberts officials said a third person had died but his office since retracted this statement.

Speaking at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, where he was visiting some of the people injured in the collapse, the mayor confirmed a third person did not die this morning.

According to EWN, Murray & Roberts believe that a cement truck may have crashed into the scaffolding which was holding up the bridge. This could have caused the structure to collapse.
