A good Samaritan who stopped to assist at the scene of a motor vehicle collision became the victim of a hijacking in Ivory Park.
One man has since been arrested following the incident, which took place on Riverside Road on Saturday last week.
The incident occurred at about 8pm when the driver of a Toyota Quantum stopped to assist some people involved in a car crash, which happened in front of his vehicle.
“The man was driving from Clayville to the Ebony Park BP service station. Before the man could exit the Toyota, another man approached him and threatened him with a knife,” said the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela.
She said the hijacker instructed the driver to exit the vehicle and he fled in the man’s car.
“The same Quantum was recovered in Ivory Park, Extension 14, the very same night at around 9pm, after it allegedly bumped into another vehicle,” she said.
She said members of the community managed to apprehend the suspect.
“The man was arrested for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle,” she said.
