Shot in the arm for soccer teams
Mr Selabi said he was only asked for two balls for the teams but he decided to purchase more than what was requested.
A local businessman and former Witbank Black Aces captain, Mr Steve Selabi, donated 12 soccer balls to New Generation FC and Tsogang Basadi FC on Thursday last week.
Mr Selabi donated the balls after meeting with the founder of the two teams Mr Kenneth Sithagu, on Tuesday last week.
Mr Selabi said he was only asked for two balls for the teams but he decided to purchase more than what was requested.
“I love what this man is doing in our community. People like him need our support as members of the community. By funding him with these balls, I am hoping youngsters and the gogos’ teams will continue practicing football,” said Mr Selabi.
Mr Selabi is encouraging other business people to take part and donate to the local teams.
“When I talk about business people I am including foreign nationals, who own shops, to also help and uplift the community. They can also contribute to society.
“I think the attacks on foreigners will reduce because people will then see their input into South African society. I hope this man will produce football stars in the future, to bring Tembisa into the spotlight,” said Mr Selabi.
The founder of the New Generation and Tsogang Basadi football clubs, Mr Kenneth Sithagu, thanked Mr Selabi for going the extra mile.
“I really appreciate the donation. This is what we did not have in our teams,” said Mr Sithagu.
