Matriculants ‘must rewrite maths paper’, fake note claims
The 2015 National Senior Certificate examinations were proceeding extremely well

A fake notice regarding the rewrite of a grade 12 mathematics paper caused a stir among matriculants on Wednesday.
In an official statement issued by the Department of Basic Education (DBE), the department said the notice, claiming the rewrite of the Mathematics Paper 2 (Grade 12), was fake.
“This fake notice informs candidates of the rescheduling of the Mathematics P2 examination to 30 November 2015.
“The DBE confirms that this notice has not been issued by the Department of Basic Education and therefore must be ignored. Candidates can be reassured that there have been no reports of a compromise to the Mathematics P2 examination, written on 2 November 2015.
“The Department of Basic Education will fully investigate the source of this document and the mischief makers will be brought to book. The Department requests candidates to remain focused and not to be distracted by such fake notices. Any information that needs to be communicated to Grade 12 candidates will be done via the school or through an official announcement made by the Director General.”
The department confirmed that the 2015 National Senior Certificate examinations were proceeding extremely well and there was no cause for concern from any quarter.
