Edleen CPF hosts fun day and market on Saturday

Be there early not to miss out on any of the fun

Edleen Community Policing Forum (CPF) will host a fun day at Laerskool Edleen on December 5 to raise funds to continue the fight against crime in Edleen.

The public can enjoy a fun-filled day browsing the craft stalls and there will also be jumping castles, a go-kart derby dash, kiddies cycle challenge and boeresport games such as egg and spoon races, three-legged races, sack races and egg throwing.

The grand prize for the day is a four-night stay valued at R5 500 at Mabalingwe Nature Reserve. Tickets will be sold at the event at R100 a ticket. The draw will take place at 1pm and tickets will be limited.

Programme for the Day

To add to the day’s fun, there will be a visit by Wayne from the World Primate Sanctuary (monkey animal rescue) in Esther Park. He will bring a rescued capuchin monkey and a baby marmoset monkey to the event. Bring your kids to come interact with these monkeys, while Wayne educates them on these great animals.

The community is invited to bring any food donations for these monkeys such as tins of bully beef, sausages, mixed veg, jelly, eggs, polony, frozen vegetables or fresh vegetables and fruits like apples and pears.

This is a specialised field and the sanctuary looks after 60 monkeys and is in desperate need of public help, especially food.

The dogs of the EMPD K9 Unit will show their capability at 10am. They will showcase their obedience to their trainers and how trainer and dog work as a team.

The dogs are trained to sniff out narcotics and explosives. Dogs are also trained to apprehend a suspect and they will showcase this.

Be there early not to miss out on any of the fun.
