
The South African Weather Service has warned that the current heatwave will intensify on Monday.
Temperatures are expected to reach into the upper thirties across Gauteng and north-eastern parts of the country.
Johannesburg may reach a high of 37 degrees, while Pretoria is expected to hit a record high of 39 degrees.
The high temperatures are expected to continue until Tuesday.
