Mohau Matinketsa took this year's Miss Teen Tembisa crown.
Rorisang Moeketsi was crowned Miss Tembisa 2015 on Saturday at the Aviator Hotel.
Mohau Matinketsa took this year’s Miss Teen Tembisa crown.
“I am overwhelmed with emotion and I still cannot believe it. I am aware of my potential and I honestly believed that I was going to win a crown, even if it was just a princess crown,” said the new Miss Tembisa 2015.
Rorisang said she plans on becoming an ambassador who inspires the growth and improvement of the Miss Tembisa brand and Tembisa at large.
Miss Teen Tembisa Queen, Mohau, said she is excited about her role as Miss Teen Tembisa in the community.
“It is still overwhelming because it was my first pageant. Being crowned was an extremely proud moment for me.
“I am looking forward to this journey as Miss Teen Tembisa and I know it will be worth it,” she said.
“I will be involved in community work, and will continue with those projects I am already involved in. It is always good to lose yourself in helping others,” she said.
The annual youth event, organised by Philly Mhlongo, has been running for 14 years.
Mr Mhlongo said the pageant has impacted positively on the youth of Tembisa and the Tembisa community.
The Aviator Hotel’s hall was filled to capacity with Miss Teen Tembisa and Miss Tembisa supporters.
“I feel the Miss Tembisa brand has grown to be one of the best pageants in Ekurhuleni. We have been hesitant to take the brand outside Tembisa but this time around we broke the chains that tied us to hosting this event in Tembisa halls,” he said.
Pearl Sebola said this year’s Miss Tembisa was the best thus far.
“Contestants were well prepared,” she said.
“We had a good audience and we thank Sky-let T from De Beers, MSC College, Aviator Hotel, Brain Internet Cafe International Extravaganza, Dorcus Spa, The Tembisan and Gauteng MEC of Education Panyaza Lesufi,” said Mr Mhlongo.
