A transformer that exploded in Spartan earlier on Wednesday left Kempton Park without power.
Originally, it was estimated the power would be out for about three hours, but Ward Councillor Jaco Terblanche just confirmed to EXPRESS that everything should be back to normal in about two hours.
“The electricity department is working on the problem and the areas will be switched back on one by one, starting first with the CBD areas,” Terblanche confirmed.
The airport was also affected, but is now back on. Power in the CBD has also been restored.
Areas including Bonaero Park, Glen Marais and Van Riebeeck Park are still affected.
