
An operation conducted by Norkem Park SAPS and the metro police on December 22 lead to the arrest of 32 suspects.
Capt Lesibana Molokomme, Norkem SAPS spokesman, said 28 of the arrests were for driving under the influence of alcohol.
A road block was held on Lydia Street, Birchleigh North. The operation started at 8pm and laste until 4am. All drunken driving suspects were males aged betweet 22 and 67.
The other suspects were arrested for theft (two), violation of a court order and one for failing to appear in court.
Such joint operations will continue throughout this festive season, Molokomme said.
