AFTER more than a year the metro has still not fixed a huge sinkhole on the corner of Bamboo and Palmiet streets.
“Over a year has passed, and what has been done about it? Absolutely nothing,” an annoyed resident said.
The hole was created by a sewage leak but the leak had long since been fixed. Only the hole must be repaired.

“A few times a group of men, who we assume are from the municipality, have stopped, looked at it for quite some time before leaving again without doing a thing to try and fix it.
“This hole has just grown bigger and bigger and residents in this area feel it is now even bigger and more dangerous to drivers, pedestrians, children or anyone making use of this road. My question is when is the municipality going to do something about fixing it? When someone gets hurt or worse?
“I personally feel it is about time for them to step up and do something about it before it gets to the point where someone gets hurt.
The hole was created by a sewerage pipe leak. The leak was fix by the water and Sanitation department three months ago. The roads and storm water department need to fix the hole.
Ward councillor Jaco Terblanche has also not been able to get the roads department to fix the hole.
“I am now putting pressure on the the department to fix the hole by preparing a motion to council for the May council meeting,” he said.
The metro has not replied to Express’ queries.
