Police track, recover stolen car

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ivory Park SAPS Police Station.

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad Unit arrested a 35-year-old man over the past weekend for possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

According to the Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, the flying squad members were working within the Tembisa Cluster when they received a lookout for a silver VW Polo.

The vehicle was stolen during a house breaking and theft incident, reported in Douglasdale.

“The vehicle had a tracking device. They followed the signal until they reached a tuck shop in Ivory Park Extension 2.

“On arrival, the same vehicle the officers were looking for was found parked under a shelter but there was no registration number on the vehicle. The suspect was also in the yard,” said W/O Sekgobela.

“When asked about the vehicle, the 35-year-old man claimed the car belonged to another man, but that he did not know where the man lived,” said W/O Sekgobela.

The suspect was arrested and detained at the Ivory Park SAPS Police Station.
