‘Hungry thief’ steals Sunday dinner from nursery school

The suspect was caught on one of the cameras

A suspect helped himself to some “Sunday lunch” by making his way to the pantry of Smartieland Nursery School on Doringboom Street after breaking in on Sunday.

The suspect gained access to the premises by derailing the gate around 3pm.

“We noticed the gate was open and saw someone took it off its rails. We immediately phoned the police and checked the security cameras. All he took was meat and chicken in our deep freeze, as well as jelly packets, some cordial and three buckets of paint,” said Tienie Stadler, owner of Smartieland.

The suspect’s face was briefly caught on one of the security cameras with what appears to be a wheel spanner in his hand. He was clever enough to turn two cameras towards the roof while committing his crime.

A case of theft was opened at Kempton Park SAPS.
