The incident took place in April last year.
The Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, Warrant Officer Neldah Sekgobela, said the victim was found dead on the street with a gunshot wound to the upper body on April 29, 2015.
“The docket was allocated to Detective Constable Poopedi, of the Ivory Park SAPS Detectives.
“He started with his investigation and left no stone unturned until the accused was arrested on May 5, 2015. The accused was found guilty in the Palm Ridge Court on March 18 for murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, possession of an unlicensed firearm and possession of unlawful ammunition,” said W/O Sekgobela.
According to W/O Sekgobela, Judge Matshitse sentenced Maloma to 22 years in prison for murder, 12 years for robbery, eight years for possession of an unlicensed firearm and two years for possession of unlawful ammunition.
